7 Most Expensive Items On Your Wedding Planning List

  1. The Wedding Dress.

The wedding dress is probably the most expensive dress you will ever purchase, even if you have a budget, most brides will fall in love with a dress and you will not care about the price. Traditionally the bride’s family pay for the wedding dress, but this is not set in stone, more and more modern-day couples are footing the bill for most of their wedding fees.

  1. Food.

Food can be very costly depending on what you are choosing to be served and the amount of people you will be serving. Appetizers are usually something to start with, then a sit-down meal which sometimes can be up to 5 courses, or a buffet. Later in the evening there are snacks available with coffee, tea and other hot beverages. Again, traditionally the bride’s family would pay for this, or at least contribute.

  1. Location.

Depending on the number of guests, where you plan to hold your wedding can vary in price. Instead of a Castle, estate, or golf club, check out locations with a barn, farmhouse. Many couples with a big enough space choose to host their weddings in their own home or a home of a family member, which can minimize costs.  If you don’t have a big enough space to host your wedding, be creative and contact your local municipality, perhaps they have public outdoor spaces you can book for your special day.

  1. Flowers.

Flowers for your wedding is an expensive item and most weddings have an abundance of them. The bouquet for the bride and the bridesmaids, the boutonnieres for the groom and groomsmen. Also, to decorate the wedding venue, the church and sometimes the cake, so many fresh flowers will be needed. Make sure you have enough room in your budget as it can be an expensive item to plan for.

  1. Cake.

A wedding cake is a must have for your wedding and depending on the size and ingredients it could be expensive. Some couples have a cake with a few tiers, and some have a smaller cake with other choices like cupcakes or cake pops on the side. If you have a family member or a friend that does a good job at baking cakes, this could help you save.

  1. Bar.

Everyone enjoys a few drinks at a wedding, so if you are planning on having an open bar be prepared to pay a substantial amount of money. Along with the alcohol there is wine with the meal, champagne for the toast and don’t forget the cocktails when first arriving. Some bridal couples have a signature cocktail made especially for them which is served throughout the reception.

  1. Photographer/videographer.

Hiring a photographer or videographer is costly, you want to ensure the person you select has experience. These photos and videos are going to be seen by everyone and are a memory for you to return to forever, so make sure whoever you choose is going to do an excellent job.
